The Bad News & The Good News...

Which would you like first? Let's get the bad news out of the way...

After having some issues with our new premises in Glasgow, we've made the hard decision to shut up shop and have decided to take this opportunity to have a wee break from Wolf Bones, go travelling next year and come up with loooads more ideas for when we come back.

Bad news over...now to the good news!

To say a massive thank you to all you lot for supporting us over the last couple of years, we're giving you 30% off everything in our online shop before it shuts its virtual doors next week...

The PERFECT opportunity to get some unique Christmas pressies (or treat yourself!)

Talking of Christmas, to go out with a little bang we've organised a Christmas Jamboree! on 17th December. There will be lots of independent designer, art, craft & vintage stalls for you to browse, live music a-plenty and an array of creative workshops to join in with.

Entry is a suggested donation of £2, all of which will be given to the amazing charity Action For Children.
(You can also sponsor Iona to climb to Machu Picchu in aid of Action For Children by clicking here)

If you are a creative type and would like a stall or would like to facilitate a workshop at our event, e-mail us on hello@wolfbones.com for more info.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

News.

We've got lots of news.

First up - Iona, the face behind all that is Wolf Bones, is scooting off to travel the world next year. So Wolf Bones will be taking a little break in 2012.

BUT we will be in full swing until then.

Our Eco-Boutique will be open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday until Christmas Eve, so you still have plenty of opportunities to pop up and get some eco-friendly, unique & independently made Xmas pressies!

And if you're too far away to come see us, our online Eco-Shop will still be up, running a full of quirky homewares, stationery, accessories, jewellery & lots more too. We ship worldwide y'know.

Iona's first stop is Peru, where she'll be climbing to Machu Picchu in aid of Action For Children. We're aiming to raise £4000 to help children and families across the UK. So we're busy thinking up exciting events & projects to help us hit our target, we'll keep you updated!

To help Iona on her way, we will be donating 15% of all our sales. This means you can treat yourself AND do a good deed. Yay!

So, if you buy this lovely gentleman brooch for £10...

...you'll be donating a whole £1.50 to Action For Children.

And if you need to buy some special Xmas cards for £2.50 each...

...40p will be going to help children in need around the UK.

Aaaand if you treat yourself to this cute nautical necklace for £23...

...a whopping £3.45 will go straight to charity.

Everyone is a winner!

And if you have a spare couple of pennies laying about, we would be super grateful if you sponsored Iona.

Thank you.

Trail Song

Last week we set off  with our lovely friend  Luke Joyce to the beach with our knitting needles in tow. Knitting on a big concrete block with crazy wind is harder than it looks, but we think the video has turned out amazingly.

It was a real privilege to be involved, not only because I Build Collapsible Mountains is one of our favourite musicians, but the song means even more to us as it's written about Iona's Granda.

'Trail Song' is part of the 'Spectator & The Act' album which will be released on 11th October.

AND the video also incorporates one of our community projects - Right here. Right now. You can read more about that here.

Wolf Bones is open!

Thank you so much to everyone that came along to our launch party last night. It was lovely seeing so many familiar and new faces.

It was great to see so many people getting involved in the interactive projects we put together too. We had a knitted guestbook...

And a collaborative story...

Both of them are on display at Wolf Bones, so if you pop up to see us you can add to them too.

A massive thanks also goes out to Kopparberg for sponsoring our launch night. Lots of delicious Kopparberg was consumed & good times were had.

We are now open every Friday & Saturday 12pm - 6pm, Sundays 12pm - 5pm and if you can't manage those days, get in touch & we'll organise another time for you to come say hello.

Sneaky Peek Numero Dos.

We're still working on getting our Eco-Boutique ready for its launch on Friday & thought we'd give you another wee Tom peep...

Our newly painted & attached crate shelf

A lovely selection of Betty Swollocks vintage clothes

Our wee hatch with our closed curtain up.

6 days & counting!

Mural, mural, on the wall...

...is our Eco-Boutique the prettiest of them all?

Well, we're getting there anyway.

Only 6 days till we open!

We finally managed to finish our Wolf Bones mural. It became apparent extremely quickly that our version of the amazingly talented Harriet Gray's original design was not going to be anywhere near as good. However, we persevered and the outcome isn't too bad...

On the look-out

We're on the search for some lovely new eco-friendly work to stock both in our online shop & our Eco-Boutique, which opens in September.

We're on a mission to find eco-friendly handmade crafts & artwork created by talented designer/maker/artists. I don't know about you, but it seems to be the case that when we've searched for eco-friendly things in the past it tends to be hippy-tastic, mumsy, bleugh. Well, we want to put a stop to that. We want to show that eco-friendly wares can offer unique design, immense talent & quirkiness.

So if you use recycled, reclaimed, fair-trade, organic, vegan, upcycled, biodegradable or reused materials when making your pieces then we want to hear from you!

Illustrators! We'd really like to stock more original artwork, start using recycled paper/card!

If you're interested send us an e-mail with a link/pictures of your work to:

You can have a look at our online shop here.

The last couple of days we have been sanding & painting.
We popped ourselves along to the charity shop & scored this dresser...

We used a whole bunch of elbow grease to sand it down & paint it & here's how it turned out...

We really like it & it'll be perfect for displaying lots of lovely handmade goodies in our Eco-Boutique!

FAVOURITE FRIDAY

It's been pretty rubbish weather here the last few days. We got absolutely soaked on more than one occasion.
However, rainy days are the best excuse to get your jammies on, curl up with your duvet & write some letters to your friends.

Our Favourite Friday this week is just the thing for letter writing - it's an adorable stationery set with writing paper, envelopes and a pencil. We love the bear mountain emblem at the top & you can even write your own message in the banner! Cute.

Get your set here.

Big News!

The time has come to spill the beans...

We now have a shop/workshop space!!

We are so so so excited.

We'll keep you updated every step of the way!

WE ARE EXCITED.

Logo Design

Hello.
We are Wolf Bones.

We used to be called i heart... but times are a-changing! We came up with the name i heart... never imagining that we would transform into a massive smorgasbord of craft workshops, projects, events, online eco-shops... Never in our wildest dreams. But we're damn proud that we have. So we think it's time to change our name to fit who we are now & will continue to be in the future.

Wolf Bones. Like it? We do.
A random name, you may think. But, did you know that wolf bones are used to find out environmental changes in the Earth's climate? Like tree rings. And as you know, we're all about helping the planet. Plus bones are at the core of our bodies and connect & work together to make something awesome. Which is what we aim to do - encourage people to use their raw creativeness to collaborate & create amazing things. Plus, we like wolves. They are nice.

With a new name comes a new logo. And guess what? Yes, that's right, we'd like you to design it!
As with all our projects, anyone is welcome to take part, whether you're a professional artist or someone that just likes doodling on the edges of the newspaper.

Guidelines:
  • The logo must include the text 'Wolf Bones'.
  • Entries must be in by 15th August.
  • Feel free to experiment and be as random as you like in your design, but if you're struggling remember our organisation is all about being eco-friendly, making the arts accessible to all & encouraging collaboration.
Send your submissions to hello@wolfbones.com for the chance to win a £30 gift voucher to use on anything in our online eco-shop as well as lots & lots of exposure. We'll pimp you out big time.

Cannot wait to see what you come up with!
